One important step that many miss in getting their blog noticed is pinging their blog. Every time you update your blog, ping it. You can use Blogflux or Pingoat or one of the many other pinging services on the net. Most all of these services are free and an integral part of growing your blog.
A ping is just a way of letting multiple sites know that you have updated your blog in a short amount of time. Most just ask for your site name and the url. Every time you post, bookmark these sites, and ping them after your post. They will then check your site for updates.
One important thing to remember is; Do not try pinging too often! Once a day is enough in my opinion. If you post one article or 20. Ping when you are done. You can go to each of these sites and ping them individually, but why would you when you can do 30 at one time. Hope this helps someone.
